Isis Wings Adult size $65 SOLD OUT - none left, none orderable (see below); please do not ask! thanks. These will go with your costumes as just GOLD; in other words they will "match," for the most part, any type of gold in a costume. However, they are not plain, opaque gold lame. They are a bit lighter weight (flow nicely), and actually are partially transluscent (a little bit "see-through"). The beautiful iridescence (the subtle purple/blue/green shading throughout the fabric that changes with movement and light) is hardly overwhelming. In fact, these days if a costume has some sort of metallic gold in the fabric, it is very often iridescent gold -- you probably don't really notice! The text description below has DETAILED information on the sizing (and all sorts of other things, like caring and cleaning tips) of these to allow you to determine if they will "work" for you (your height). PLEASE read before emailing/calling asking related questions.
I'm very sorry, but I just have no idea when I'm going to be able to get more wings! Each time I've expected to get them (and announced it here), I'm told they've all or almost all sold out directly from my supplier practically as soon as they come off the boat. I will keep trying! Adult Isis Wings - $65 - General Description Most wings on the market are one of two fabric types: metallic lame, which is completely opaque, or organza, which is transluscent (partially see-through). Both have enough stiffness to maintain the industrially pressed permanent pleats, while providing flowing movement. There are variations in weight and opacity, and of course other fabrics may be used The light-weight iridescent gold lame wings I currently have in stock are about inbetween regular lame and organza as far as "stiffness;" they flow very nicely. Elastic neck strap with front velcro closure. Wooden dowels (you hold in your hands to extend the wings) permanently sewn inside pockets along outside edges; the pockets run most of the length of the edge so the dowels can slide. I mention this primarily in case you want to try and cut and shorten these. If so, you don't have to worry about the dowels, just slide them further back. There are two wings, one on each side, in other words there is a full slit (separation) in the center back. Size, How To Measure Yourself for Fit The wings currently in stock are approximately 57" radially, same length all the way around. Measured from center of neck strap straight out radially to edge. Dowels are 30" long. To see how this will work on you, hold your arm straight out. Put 0 end of measuring tape at center of your neck front, run down to your hands (to be really accurate, which all of this is NOT :), make a fist with your hands as if you are holding the dowl, and measure to where you'd hold the dowel). That will give you a number less than 57" (the approximate length of the wings). You hold the 30" dowel to extend the wing the rest of the way. Lets say you use about 4" of the dowel to hang on to. Your neck to arm length plus about 26" should be somewhere in the neighborhood of the 57" of the wing. If you are tall and your arms are long, you can grasp the dowel further up. Also measure from the nape of your neck down your back to the floor to see how far down they will hang. Can they be shortened? Generally it's easier for people 5'5" or taller to use these. In theory you should be able to shorten them, or have them shortened. They really should be serged, not hemmed; a doubled hem would probably make the edges too stiff. If you have a serger you should be able to do it; you'll probably need to iron them after working on them (see "Care," below). |
